Description
Martín Códax Albariño is one of Spain’s best-known white wines: a crisp, aromatic Albariño from Rías Baixas, on the Atlantic coast of Galicia. Fresh and lively, with citrus, green apple and white peach fruit and a lightly saline, mineral finish.
Tasting notes
Bright straw yellow with green hints. The nose shows lemon, grapefruit, green apple and stone fruit with a touch of white flowers. The palate is fresh and juicy, with lively acidity and the characteristic sea-breeze minerality of Atlantic Albariño.
About Martín Códax
Bodegas Martín Códax was founded in 1986 in Cambados, in the Val do Salnés, the historic heart of the Rías Baixas region. The winery is named after Martín Códax, a medieval Galician troubadour whose poems about the sea are among the oldest written in the Galician language. Its vineyards sit close to the Atlantic, where the cool, damp climate gives Albariño its freshness and aromatic intensity.
Food pairing
Serve chilled at 8-10°C. A classic match for seafood: oysters, mussels, prawns, crab, grilled fish and smoked salmon. Also excellent with sushi, salads, goat’s cheese and light chicken dishes.
