Description
The Ultimate Trappist Indulgence
La Trappe Quadrupel is not only the heaviest ale produced by the De Koningshoeven Abbey, but it is also historically credited as being the very first beer in the world to be styled as a ‘Quadrupel’. It is a monumental beer of immense depth, designed to be sipped and savored like a fine wine or spirit.
Pouring a deep, cloudy amber-brown with a dense tan head, the aroma is incredibly complex. It exudes notes of dark, sticky caramel, roasted almonds, ripe plum, raisins, and a distinct, vinous hint of port wine. On the palate, the 10.0% ABV provides a luxurious, warming mouthfeel. The taste is profoundly rich and sweet, packed with brown sugar, dark fruit, and molasses, but it masterfully avoids being cloying thanks to a very subtle, balancing bitterness in the incredibly long finish. It is the perfect fireside drink and an exceptional pairing for blue cheese or a dark chocolate fondant.
