Yellow Spot 12 Year Old is a celebrated member of the historic “Spot” whiskey family, originally created by Mitchell & Son in Dublin. What makes Yellow Spot truly unique is its intricate three-cask maturation process. It is matured for a full 12 years in a combination of American ex-bourbon barrels, Spanish Oloroso sherry butts, and, crucially, Spanish Malaga sweet wine casks.
The inclusion of the Malaga casks imparts an incredibly lush, exotic sweetness to the whiskey. On the nose, it offers vibrant aromas of mown hay, cracked black pepper, and sweet peach. The palate is velvety and mouth-coating, bursting with flavors of honey, crushed red apples, toasted oak, and a distinct, syrupy sweetness from the Malaga wine.
