Description
Fat Bastard Chardonnay is the wine that started it all: a rich, full-flavoured Chardonnay from Pays d’Oc in the south of France, with ripe fruit, a touch of vanilla and a smooth, round texture. A generous white that is easy to love and easy to pair.
Tasting notes
Golden yellow with pale-green tints. Intense and complex on the nose, with tropical fruit, a touch of vanilla and gentle toasty notes. The palate is round and textured, with acacia flower and a clean, fresh citrus finish.
The wine
Fat Bastard Chardonnay is made from Chardonnay grown across the Languedoc-Roussillon, labelled IGP Pays d’Oc. Part of the wine is oak-aged, which gives it its creamy body and soft vanilla character.
The name comes from the original experiment: winemaker Thierry tasted a Chardonnay from a barrel left on its lees and called it a real “fat bastard”. The brand was born from that wine.
Food pairing
Lovely with roast chicken, creamy pasta, grilled fish and shellfish, fresh salads and a variety of cheeses. Also delicious on its own, well chilled.
