Description
Antinori Bramito della Sala 2025 is a 100% Chardonnay from Castello della Sala, the Antinori estate in Umbria, close to the Tuscan border and not far from Orvieto. Produced under the Umbria IGT at 12.5% ABV, it is the more approachable sibling of the estate’s famous Cervaro della Sala, and has been made since 1994.
The grapes come from the vineyards around the medieval castle, planted on clay soils rich in fossil deposits that give the wine minerality and elegance. The Chardonnay is hand-harvested in early September, then vinified partly in French oak and partly in stainless steel, so the oak stays subtle and the fruit stays fresh.
Tasting notes
Straw yellow with greenish highlights. The nose shows ripe exotic fruit, such as lychee and mango, with citrus notes of pink grapefruit and citron, and a light toasty touch from the oak. The palate is medium-bodied, soft and creamy, with fresh acidity and a long, mineral finish.
Food pairing
A versatile white for vegetable risottos, Mediterranean pasta dishes, chicken and other white meats, creamy dishes and grilled fish. Serve lightly chilled, at around 10-12°C. Best enjoyed in its first few years, usually within 3 to 5 years of the vintage.
Available at Matson’s Wine Store in Youghal, Bandon and Grange, with delivery throughout Ireland.
