* **Long Description:**
**A Belgian Classic from the West of Ireland**
Mescan Brewery, located on the rugged slopes of Croagh Patrick in Westport, Co. Mayo, specializes in crafting authentic Belgian-style beers using pure Mayo spring water. Their Westport Saison is a brilliant homage to the traditional ‘farmhouse ales’ of southern Belgium—beers originally brewed to quench the thirst of seasonal farm workers.
Bottle-conditioned and naturally hazy, it pours a mid-gold color topped with a lively, persistent white head. The aroma is a complex mix of spicy Belgian yeast, clove, and a distinct, zesty ‘lemon sherbet’ citrus note. On the palate, the 5.8% ABV beer is light-bodied, highly carbonated, and effervescent. It dances on the tongue with flavors of lemon candy and orchard fruit, eventually giving way to a dry, rustic, and slightly earthy finish reminiscent of straw and rye grass. Refreshing, complex, and deeply satisfying, it pairs brilliantly with mature farmhouse cheeses, roast pork, or spicy seafood dishes.
