Description
Podere Guardia Grande Saldenya is a fresh and expressive Vermentino di Sardegna made from 100% Vermentino in north-west Sardinia, in the province of Sassari.
The vineyards are located just 30 metres above sea level on sandy-loam and clay soils of alluvial origin. The close proximity to the sea and the influence of the Mistral give the wine a distinctive maritime character and pronounced savoury freshness.
Saldenya shows a bright straw-yellow colour with green reflections. The nose combines tropical aromas of pineapple and lychee with grapefruit and chamomile, followed by mineral, saline and subtle hydrocarbon notes.
On the palate, it is fresh, elegant and easy-drinking, with a soft texture balanced by lively acidity and a persistent, saline finish.
A distinctive Sardinian white wine that works particularly well with seafood, shellfish, grilled fish, fresh salads and Mediterranean dishes.
