Fat Bastard Rosé is a fruity, full-flavoured rosé from Pays d’Oc in the south of France, made from Grenache and Cinsault. Fresh, round and packed with ripe red berries, it is an easy-drinking rosé that suits any occasion, from a barbecue to a quiet glass on a Friday evening.
Tasting notes
Intense pink with purple-blue hues. The nose is expressive, with ripe raspberry and strawberry. On the palate it is round and full, with juicy red fruits and a long, fresh finish.
The wine
Fat Bastard Rosé is a blend of Grenache and Cinsault from select vineyards across the Languedoc-Roussillon, labelled IGP Pays d’Oc. The grapes are chosen for a fruit-forward style, with more body than the usual pale, delicate rosé.
The name has a story behind it: it comes from the moment winemaker Thierry tasted a Chardonnay from a barrel left on its lees and declared it a real “fat bastard”. A legend was born.
Food pairing
Lovely on its own, well chilled. It also works with barbecue and summer salads, spicy and fried food, and soft cheeses.
