Description
A Masterpiece of Concentration
Amarone della Valpolicella is one of Italy’s most prestigious and unique red wines, renowned for its incredible richness and depth. It is crafted in the Veneto region using the traditional appassimento method, where the harvested grapes (primarily Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara) are laid out to dry on bamboo racks for several months before fermentation. This process evaporates the water content, concentrating the sugars and flavours.
The resulting wine pours a deep, opaque ruby red. The aroma is intensely complex, overflowing with notes of dried figs, baked plums, black cherry jam, and dark chocolate, accented by sweet baking spices and a hint of leather. On the palate, it is full-bodied, velvety, and incredibly warming, with a long, luxurious finish. Despite its richness, a balancing acidity keeps it elegant. It is the ultimate pairing for rich, slow-cooked stews, game meats, or strong blue cheeses like Gorgonzola.
